Amanda started her career with animals when she graduated from Dalhousie University, majoring in animal sciences in 2009. She then went onto Oulton College and obtained her Veterinary Technology diploma in 2010 at which time she began her work as a Registered Veterinary Technician. In 2013, Amanda began teaching veterinary assistant students at the Centre for Health Studies and now teaches veterinary technician students at Maritime Business College.
She has always had an interest in animal behavior and the human-animal bond, but this was emphasized when she brought home a Doberman Pinscher puppy named “Henry” in 2011. It was at this time that Amanda found Sublime Canine and her interest in dog training was ignited. Her true passion lies in low stress handling and enhancing the human-animal bond through preventive behavioral training.
Amanda is a member of the Eastern Veterinary Technician Association, Veterinary Support Personnel Network and the Society for Veterinary Behavior Technicians. She regularly participates in continuing education in the animal behavior field. Amanda is actively working towards her veterinary technician specialty in animal behavior.
She regularly trains and competes with Henry in competitive obedience and rally obedience. She also shares her home with a German Shepherd mix; Audree.
