About Us
Adina and Amy MacRae bring an unrivalled passion for the canine spirit to their dog walking and training. Formerly Dogs on the Go/Adina’s K9 Coaching and FUR My Friends Dog Obedience and Services, the MacRae’s have joined forces under the Sublime Canine umbrella to bring their fun and humane philosophies to the people and dogs of HRM and beyond. With group and private dog walking and training available, Sublime Canine has something to suit every lifestyle and need.
Adina MacRae first
studied animal learning and behaviour when she earned a Psychology
degree at Dalhousie University. After completing her Bachelor of Public
Relations at MSVU, she adopted her first dog Buddy, a Boxer/Pit Bull mix
from the Bide Awhile shelter and got a crash course in dog behaviour.
After becoming involved in flyball, Adina apprenticed with Lietash
Canine Academy for several years and continues to teach their agility
program. Once she had plenty of hands-on experience with a wide range of
breeds and personality types, Adina started Dogs on the Go, a dog
walking and pet care service, in 2003 and spent a year and a half
performing temperament evaluations for the Metro SPCA. Adina specializes
in on-leash reactivity and also enjoys teaching children how to train
dogs. Her favourite pastime is agility and she holds multiple titles on
her dogs.
Inspired by a life long love of
animals, Amy MacRae previously owned and operated FUR My Friends Dog Obedience & Services
from 2005-2009. Amy's fascination with how animals learn and interact
with people influence her enthusiastic instructing style and fun
training techniques. After adopting
Gracie a Collie mix from the SPCA and attending training classes with
Lietash Canine Academy, Amy went on to participate in Flyball
and Agility programs and was eventually asked to join the Lietash team
of instructors. Amy also gives Dog Bite Prevention & Animal Care
presentations on behalf of the SPCA and other rescue organizations to
schools and other non-profit groups to raise awareness and teach people
how to understand dog body language and avoid bites. Amy's favourite pastime
is being out in the woods biking, hiking or cross country skiing with
the dogs. Amy also competes in AAC & CPE agility events and hosts
Agility FUN Matches which proved to be very popular addition too
summer/fall doggy events in NS.
Adina and Amy share their home with eight wonderful dogs and four cats, all of whom have been adopted. The menagerie includes, Border Collie mixes (including their deaf dog), Chihuahuas and a Boxer/Pit Bull. The MacRae’s continue to give back to the rescue community with discounted rates for adopted dogs and training support for various non-profit organizations throughout the province.
